America does dessert right, and chocolate chip cookies is one great example of this. So it’s natural that they are my go-to dessert for Fourth of July. They are delicious, well liked by party-goers, and quick to make. I’m talking ten minutes to make the batter quick!
This recipe comes from my sister-in-law’s mother. And it is hands down the best chocolate chip cookie I’ve ever eaten. I made fifty cookies last year for our party – we didn’t have a single one left! I made this batch yesterday afternoon while waiting for my in-laws to arrive, half of the batch was gone within twenty minutes. These. cookies. are. awesome.
Ingredients:
1 3/4 all-purpose flour
3/4 tsp baking soda
3/4 tsp salt
3/4 C brown sugar
1/2 C granulated sugar
1 1/2 C chocolate chips
3/4 C softened butter (1.5 sticks)
1 egg
3/4 tsp vanilla extract
Directions
1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
2. Combine dry ingredients
3. Beat butter, egg, and vanilla together. Add dry ingredients and mix just until combined.
4. Using a spoon or 1″ cookie scooper, arrange 12 per baking sheet, about 2″ apart.
5. Cook for 9-11 minutes, until the cookies are fragrant and browner around the edges.
Last step: eat with reckless abandon as you watch fireworks with all of your family and friends. Happy Fourth of July!
